Little Indian Girl - Dana Simion

The work is part of the “India” series.
I photographed the little Indian girl in 2014 when I visited India for the first time and the painting was made 4 years later. The work is part of the “India” series. After another foray into India in February 2018, I began a series of works that focus on the human figure.
In the “India” series I tried to put the experiences of Indians and Tibetans on canvas, capturing as much as possible of what they have transmitted to me. Beauty has a very special meaning in this part of the world, combining with simplicity and fulfilment.
After a full day visiting temples, we also took a nature walk and returned to the cars that were to take us back to Daramshala. There were a few houses and shops in the area. Just before we left I saw the gentle face of the little Indian girl somewhere upstairs. I was fascinated by her beauty and innocence. She saw that I was preparing my camera, smiled and let herself be photographed, she remained still for a few seconds.
